Innovative counselling for busy women

You are a smart and independent woman who is used to getting things done. You’ve achieved a lot in your life, but still have that uncomfortable feeling that there has to be more to it than what you’re currently experiencing. You take the same approach to solving problems at work to this problem of longing for something you can’t quite put your finger on, but you are not getting any useful results. Perhaps now is the right time to consider a different approach.

If you are are yearning for something you can’t quite name and are determined to make a change, but can’t decide what to do sessions with me will help you to experience:

  • Increased self-awareness, so that you can change the patterns that are holding you back from finding out what you really want in life.
  • Greater personal power, so that you can take action on those big dreams of yours once they are uncovered.
  • More self-love and compassion, so that you can be better at loving others and getting your own emotional needs met.
  • Greater resilience so that you can bounce back more quickly from those upsets we all experience.
  • Reduced stress and overwhelm, so that you can access your inner guidance system and identify what the next best step is for you.
  • Less time spent in struggle and discomfort, so that you can spend more time in positive emotional states, such as peace, joy and acceptance.

Sessions can take place either in person in my rooms in Turner or online in my secure Zoom room.

At our first meeting, we’ll check you’re clear about my policies around cancellations, fees, and confidentiality, among other things. And then we get into the session.

You might be very clear about what the key issue is. There might be a particular story from your life you want to relate, or strong emotions you want to process and get some relief from. It could be a dream you want to unfold or a body symptom that is reoccurring and difficult. Alternatively, we might ease into the session by discussing the answers you gave on the Intake Sheet. It’s up to you. I’ll ask you where you want to begin and be guided by your responses. I’ll make some notes as you talk and I may ask some clarifying questions, but usually, this first part of the session is to relax and just talk.

As I listen, I’ll be getting of sense of what some options might be for the next part. We may go deeper or stay on the surface of things. I’ll offer suggestions to you before we move on. These might include things like creating a dialogue between different parts of yourself that have revealed themselves while you were speaking. This kind of psychodrama can be very effective. Or it might be working with a body symptom or a dream. Otherwise, we might use movement or sound to express what has not come easily in words.

I’ll encourage you to choose the direction that sounds most exciting to you, or interesting or bold. You will feel safe and supported throughout and I will never ask you to do more than you can. I will listen in this phase too, but I might also gently challenge you. In this phase you may find yourself out of your comfort zone. We like to be safe. But that desire for safety can prevent us from moving forward. So as I say, I might gently challenge you.

Finally, we’ll come back to relate what new information you have acquired to the issue we started with. We can discuss ways you can support the integration of what you experienced in the session and we may close with a little meditation, if you like. We’ll deal with payment and booking in your next session, if appropriate.

If that sounds good to you, I invite you to book in for a full 60 min. counselling session below.
